ARLINGTON, Va., Aug. 11, 2020 — Tellwright Systems, Inc. today published its Responsible Use Framework, which sets out how the company decides whom it sells to, how its products are configured and how it responds when it learns of possible misuse. The company also announced the appointment of Celia Rourke as its first Chief Privacy and Civil Liberties Officer, and the formation of a Responsible Use Council to review sensitive deployments.
The framework commits Tellwright to audit logging in every product, to configurable retention for every customer, to annual responsible use training for every user, and to a public transparency report each year.
“Technology companies are asked, rightly, what their products should and shouldn’t be used for,” said Celia Rourke. “Our answer is that those decisions belong to the communities that agencies serve and the officials they elect. We don’t set policy. We make it possible, and we build the controls that let agencies follow the policies they are given.”
The Responsible Use Council includes Tellwright’s chief executive, chief technology officer and general counsel, and is chaired by the Chief Privacy and Civil Liberties Officer.
